I won't even tell you how many days it's been since Katy poo'ed. Let's just say, it's been too long, and she went to see the doctor today. On his advice, we're giving her milk of magnesia, prune juice, and all sorts of new foods that help to "move things along". Which is killing me, of course, because Zach and I prefer to introduce one new food each week, in order to track any allergic reactions. But yesterday she tried 2 new foods at once (chicken and broccoli), and today she tried prune juice and whole wheat bread. I KNOW! She's allergic to wheat, right? We don't know though. Ever since the weather got warmer, her eczema is just completely gone, even if I eat wheat (and she gets it through my milk). Anyway, the bran part of the wheat grain is supposed to help you "go". I'm getting desperate here. I'm afraid she's just going to pop!
Here she is her drinking her prune juice, which she actually likes!
And here are some pictures from days past.

Katy eating bananas, before I learned that they are binding, and might be one of the causes of her no poo problem. Not smart, mommy!

Poor Katy... I hope the poo comes soon for her and she feels a lot better.
I know you're being careful about giving Katy new foods but I have a couple thoughts.
1) I'm surprised that the doctor would've recommended bread because historically that has been the T part of the BRAT diet which is suggested for people with diarrhea. (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast).
2) When I had my issues the week after Mabel was born (I know, TMI) my nurse suggested that I drink more water and eat tons of fruit. I know that babies can only have so much water, but perhaps that's an easy option for you.
3) My doctor recommended giving no juice to Mabel. He said it's basically all sugar water (even the 100% juice) and it's not necessary for a healthy diet. However, freshly squeezed juice is wonderful. (I am not that dedicated to giving Mabel juice that I feel the need to hand squeeze it. Formula and water is enough for her. She gets her servings of fruit every day through fresh fruit.) I wonder if the baby food prunes would be a healthier alternative to the prune juice? I do know that they work very well for poo problems.
4) Mandarin Oranges are awesome for getting kids to poopy. I'm sure Katy has never tried them yet, so if you decide to try heed this warning. You do not need them in large quantities for them to work, and sometimes the acidity from the oranges can leave a nasty diaper rash even if you change the poopy right away. This you may want to use as a last resort if nothing else works (probably the prune juice should do the trick).
I hope I was helpful and not more upsetting. I've got my fingers crossed that a huge poopy is in Katy's near future (or even better, recent past).
Love to all!
See, this is why doctors drive me nuts. Their advice varies so much from doctor to doctor. The whole wheat bread is helpful because of the fiber, apparently. I agree, I'm not a fan of giving kids fruit juice, so now that she's finally poo'ed, I think I'll quit with the prune juice. And thanks for the tip about the mandarin oranges. I'll try them if this ever happens again!
