Katy's first day of school!

We had a little adventure today at Salford Hills Elementary School! I am going to be subbing for an after-school Spanish teacher the 2nd week of December, so she invited me to come observe her teach one of her classes. She'd met Katy before, and since she knew Katy is such a quiet baby, she told me to bring her along. Katy watched the whole lesson quietly and with interest. I bet she's going to LOVE school! And I can't wait to start teaching these little elementary school kids. They're so adorable!

Anyway, now for what you came here for...

Here you have Katy and her Daddy watching the Terps men's basketball team beat Illinois last night.

And here are Piglet and I using our new wrap. We both love it! So far it is by far the comfiest baby carrier I've ever used. Katy seems so comfy in it. It was "made" by another mom that I met online, but really it's just a long piece of stretchy fabric. I think I'll go to Jo-Ann's and ask them what fabric it is, and I'll get a few yards in other prints.

Cute story

So I'm nursing Katy at the keyboard, and I go to KnittingHelp.com to view a demonstration video of using double-pointed needles. As soon as the video starts and we hear the lady's voice, and Katy stops eating, stares at me, and then looks around toward the computer speaker, looking for the lady who's talking. It took me several minutes to convince her that there was no one else here with us. hehe!

9 months clothing!

I'm so tired of the rotation of 6 months size clothes that Katy has, so this morning I decided to take out the bag of 9 months size, just to see if anything fits yet. Here she is in one of her 9 months outfits. Doesn't she look sweet? A little bit big, but it fits. She is playing with one of her favorite toys - a taggy elephant!

And here is my other baby - the bag I'm knitting. This panel was supposed to be the front of the bag, but I've decided to make it the bag because I made so many mistakes on it. But I still like the way it looks. Yes, those are my red sweatpants underneath. Everyone needs a good pair of red sweatpants.

4 months old!

I just had to take a peek at the "4 months from our due date" post, back in March. Wow, life has changed a lot since then!

Sorry, no new pics, but Katy did have her 4 month appointment today. She's very healthy. Here are her stats:

14 lb. 9.3 oz. (72% percentile for weight)
24.5" long (61% percentile for length)
16.54" head circumference (78th percentile!!)

She has her daddy's big head!

And, to change the subject, my current knitting project is a shoulder bag in linen stitch, using WoolEase Green Heather yarn, which I just FOUND in my stuff. I guess Mom must have given it to me. Thanks, Mom!

Knitting is getting easier and more fun as I practice more! Tonight is the knitting circle at the library, but if Katy's feeling really ick from her vaccinations, I might have to skip this week.

I made a bunny!

Okay, so I finally finished a knitting project. It's hideous and pitiful, but I made it. I made it much bigger than it should have been, and then I altered the pattern for the ears, so they're WAY too big, but anyways... Here it is:

With ears out...

Lop-eared style...

Thanksgiving!

Wednesday night, Grandpa stayed the night, and Katy spent a lot of time trying to show him how she can roll over. However, she just couldn't quite make it.
Here's Piglet sleeping w/ her ducky after we all took a walk on Thanskgiving Day, while the turkey was cooking.

Zach was the head chef, and here he is taking the stuffing out of the turkey.

Katy was having fun pulling Aunt Anna's strings. :)

Here are all of us at Thanksgiving Dinner. G-Pop, Aunt Anna, Grammy, Grandpa, Mama and Piglet, and Daddy is behind the camera. :)

A relaxing evening

Snuggling during Jeopardy

Sitting up on her own! (Well, kind of... note that she is holding Daddy's thumb)
This was so cute. Every time Katy fussed, Daddy put her up on the highest shelf and she stopped fussing! I think she was just bewildered by Daddy's silliness.

A couple of close-ups.

Oh, and here's the progress I've made so far on my project.

Knitwits

Mommy had her first night out tonight, with Daddy taking care of Piglet. I went to the local library for the weekly stitch-n-bitch, called Knitwits. It was fun!!! I am trying to make a big square that I will eventually stuff and sew into a bunny toy. I have started and unraveled countless times because something keeps going wrong, but I think I'm finally happy with the way things are going this time. Here it is so far:

And here's what I saw as I rushed breathlessly into the house, terrified that I would find a screaming Katy and a harrassed-looking Papi:

And this is from last night. Ever since that contract letter came, Daddy has been sooooo relaxed and Katy is loving all the Daddy-time she's getting.

Congratulations, Daddy!

This is a letter from Central Bucks School District saying that Daddy is doing an awesome job and will be given a contract as a permanent employee! Congratulations, Daddy!

A busy day at home!

We did a lot today, even though we never left the house! We took a nice morning nap, and I do mean *we*. It was wonderful. Then Great-Funkle Dennie came over for lunch! While he was holding Katy, he mentioned she was biting down on his knuckle. I said "Yeah, she likes to suck on fingers," and he said, "No, she's really biting!" So I started to wonder if maybe she's teething! (Others have mentioned that this might be why she's so sick.)

Grammy got Katy a little wooden bee toy. Katy LOVES to look at it, and today she reached out and touched it. This is the first time I've seen her reach out for something next to her on purpose.

She started biting on my knuckle later in the day, so I washed and froze her new teether and gave it to her. She didn't like it when it was fresh out of the freezer, but after it warmed up a little, she enjoyed it very much. Just for the record, I really don't know if she's teething or not. The books say that probably won't happen until the 5th or 6th month, but all babies are different.

Here she is after Daddy walked her to sleep for a short evening nap.

The Knitting Bug!

Mommy has caught the knitting bug! As many of you know, Katy wears cloth diapers now. In case you're curious, we use Chinese prefolds, with a snappi to hold it closed, and a velcro cover. But at night, she wears a pocket diaper with a wool wrap. But this makes her pj's fit all wrong because it's so bulky. So I want to make some wool longies, which will keep her warm and dry at night!

I'm starting small, using acryllic yarn and making a little potholder square. But hopefully I'll be knitting up a storm soon!

Still sicky!

Poor Piglet! She is still not doing well, and now her cough is getting worse. She's going to the doctor this afternoon. Here are some recent pics. You'll see that being sick doesn't really put a damper on her cheery mood!

A Trip to Maryland... cut short!

We went to Maryland this weekend with big plans: visits with family and friends, and 2 parties! We had a great time with Uncle Brian, Aunt Shelly, and cousin Nicolas on Friday night...

Mama, Uncle Brian, and Katy

Uncle Brian, Katy (watching TV), and a close-up on Nicolas

Uncle Brian, Katy (watching TV), and Nicolas wearing his Aunt Bethany's shades

Aunt Shelly, Katy, and Kitty Blanket.

But we had to go home sick the next morning! Katy and Mama were up all Friday night with an icky cold! We are now finally feeling better, Monday night.
