Wow!

Last night, Katy slept 7 hours straight! From 10:30 p.m. until 5 a.m! I'm sure it was just a fluke, but it was really nice for Zach and I to sleep that long without getting up once. Boy, was she hungry when she finally woke up!

And I forgot to mention, yesterday was Katy's 1 month birthday. How time flies!

Grandparents!

Katy has had tons of visits from her grandparents this week. First, Grandpa came to play with her over the weekend and to play some Yahtzee with Mommy and Daddy. Then Nana came for a few days during the week and carried a sleeping Katy around the grocery store while Mommy got some shopping done. And last night, Katy went to her first nice restaurant with Grammy, G-Pop, Aunt Anna, Daddy and Mommy. She slept through the whole meal, except for a brief interlude of fussiness, which was cured by being rocked outside by her G-Pop. Aunt Anna got her a pretty shirt from Mexico! She's looking forward to next weekend, when she will have the opportunity to see her Uncle Jarrod and Aunt Kristen again, and maybe even Nana and Grandpa. What a popular girl!

Now she is upstairs having some morning time with Daddy (brave girl - he hasn't had his coffee yet!) while Mommy is having breakfast. We have no plans this weekend other than playing with our little girlie! :)

4 weeks old!

Tomorrow Katy will be 4 weeks old, and she's already sitting up! (Well, with Daddy's help.) And she smiled her first real smile today! Isn't she beautiful? We think her eyes are going to be brown. Every day, she is more and more aware and active. Last night, we all slept from 10:30 pm until 8 am (with 2 nursings: at 2 and 6). It was delicious to sleep that much!
I got a part-time job today, teaching non-credit Spanish classes at a community college 2 nights a week. We also made tutoring flyers to hang up around town, so hopefully I'll get some clients and make some $$$. :)
Uh-oh, Katy's telling us it's dinnertime! I better go feed her.

Day 1 as SAHM

Well, today is my first day as a Stay-At-Home-Mom. So far, we are doing really well!

Last night, Katy fell asleep to the hum of the bathroom fan (thank you for that tip, Aunt Shelly) around 11. We have all finally moved back to the 3rd floor bedroom, so I was glad to see that she slept well in the new room. She awoke around 3:20 to nurse, and then was asleep by 4! This is pretty good, as it can sometimes take an hour and a half from the time she wakes up for a nighttime feeding until she goes back to sleep. We woke up again around 6:15 and nursed while we watched Daddy get ready for work.

Then Katy hung out in her sling (snug against Mommy) while I ate breakfast and took care of a few chores.

Once Zach left, I put Katy in her carseat in the bathroom and took a shower - my first home-alone shower since Katy was born! I was so nervous that she would cry the whole time, but she slept. Then we got ready - I even blowdried my hair and put on makeup while she laid awake happily in her bassinet, gazing at her Tigger rattle (thank you, Uncle Jarrod).

Next, we went to 2 yard sales, where we got 2 shopping bags crammed full of baby clothes (up to 18 months) for a total of $10! We are so frugal! :)

Now we're home, and Katy's just waking up for some snuggles and milk...

It Has Come To This

Oh yes, it has come to this. The highlight of my day was helping Bethany give Katy her first real bath(in the role of photographer). Her umbilical cord fell off and disappeared this weekend (hey, does anyone want the last piece of jerky?), so the doctor gave the go-ahead for her to be partially submerged in water. After an initial setback (we had to refill the tub -use your imagination,) she took to it like a little fish!

A visit from Aunt Jen & Uncle John

Aunt Jen and Uncle John came up from Maryland today to visit us and meet Katy!
