A day at the beach

We have been traveling quite a bit lately. Katy and I took a trip to Maryland to visit my brothers and their families, plus my friend Marybeth. Although we had great fun visiting, I forgot to bring my camera, so there is no documentation of said fun.
This weekend, we spent a day at the beach with Gabby, Pop, and A-A. It was Gabby's 60th birthday!

Eating breakfast with Pop.

Keeping warm with A-A.

Stopping for some beeyo-yo-yo.
Hangin' out with the bears at the fudge shop. This was after we convinced her to stop yelling "UP!" at the little one, and trying to pull him out of the chair so she could sit in it.
Helping Gabby open "peasants".

Walking on the beach with A-A.

Looking out at the ocean.

Sitting in the sand.

Watching the waves with Gabby.

Poor Anna was stuck outside on the cold, windy balcony for about 30 minutes with Katy who, impervious to the cold, did not want to come inside.
Relaxing with Daddy and several toys. A couple new developments for Katy are represented here. She likes to hold as many toys as possible all at once, and sometimes gets very frustrated when she wants to hold more than her little arms are able. Also, she is becoming quite a daddy's girl. Riding the hippo.
Wearing Daddy's boots!

Another gorgeous day

It got up to the mid-sixties today in our area. Wow, it felt great to be outside. We took a walk in the park (without our camera), and then after a snack, we hung out on our sunny deck for a long time.

"Forwards," she said, as she pushed the snow shovel. And she wasn't repeating after me.

Looking over our little piece of heaven - which is all dug up by our dear dog Shelby.

Huh! Last time I saw this chair, I was crawling!

What happens if I pull on these loose threads?

Mommy, Daddy, Katy: US! Eat Food!

We spent a beautiful February day at the Philadelphia Zoo, where we saw many of Katy's favorite animals (but not the hippopotamus - it was too cold). We had a picnic there, and Katy started saying (over and over again), "Mommy, Daddy, Katy: us! Eat food!). We did our best to capture it on video, but what's below doesn't really do it justice. Daddy also experimented (for the first time) with is his new zoom lens to take some close up photos of the animals.

Talking about animals

I'm posting this video not because it is especially cute or interesting, but because I wanted to show our readers that Katy can engage in real conversations now. So we asked her a bunch of questions about one of her favorite topics (animals) just to get a sample of her talking. The really cute times are when she starts the conversation, and she's full of enthusiasm about something charmingly mundane, but this will have to do for now.

Indoor Sandbox

Daddy and Katy built an indoor sandbox this past weekend (Mommy's idea). We gave Katy some kitchen tools to play with in it and voila - hours of entertainment.

Also, here was the scene when Daddy woke up after his two hour delay today:
