Back in the saddle

Okay, sorry for the long hiatus. This time, it was just because of technical difficulties, which we've found a way around.

We like to take the Kate-ster out for a walk, even if it's chilly. Especially if it's sunny.

Warm sun + bumpy ride = sleepy baby.

Look who's enjoying the Boppy.

Katy "Tyson" going after Daddy's ear.

Saturday was Grammy's birthday! She got a bunch of Phillies stuff, including Phillies tickets!

Katy watches the festivities from Aunt Anna's lap.

Grammy opens the present I knitted for her.

Grammy tries to figure out what it's for...

Looks like she figured it out!

The serpentine necklace we got her.

Katy loves to look in the mirror. She likes for Daddy to hold her high up while he's sitting in his chair, because there's a mirror on the wall behind him. Tonight, Daddy got tired of holding her up (because she would fuss if she couldn't see herself in the mirror), so he got the smaller mirror off the wall and Katy enjoyed her reflection some more. This way was easier on Daddy's arms.

Katy's first kiss(es)!

Today we went to a playgroup, and one of Katy's little friends, a boy of 3, decided that she was the most interesting person in the room (we all know that feeling, do we not?). He proceeded to give her gentle hugs, pats, and kisses on the cheek throughout the playgroup. She was receptive (beaming at him! - transparent like her mother), although I advised her not to lead him on, since he is much too old for her.

In other news, this afternoon Katy just learned the "D" sound. She was looking at Daddy's armoire (or maybe at the blank TV on top of it) and started saying "Daa-daa-daa!" It sounded like she was asking for Daddy, which was so cute. Now she's just saying it over and over.

The computer refuses to acknowledge my camera's memory card lately, so I have no new pics to post. :(

Be My Little Baby

If this doesn't move you, you are made of stone! Make sure you turn up the sound before you press play.

Daddy made this with the video-editing software he got for Christmas.

Success!

This morning, we had another happy bath AND success at eating! We decided to try rice cereal, which is what is traditionally given to babies as a first food. I mixed it with breastmilk, so it was pretty watery. This time, she wanted to feed herself. I'm still not sure how much of it went INTO her mouth, and I'm not sure if she was grabbing the spoon because she wanted the rice cereal or if she just wanted to chew on the spoon (one of her favorite pastimes). Anyway, she was smiling and happy throughout the experience, so I consider it a success. Note the adorable handmade froggy bib she's wearing. A dear friend bought it for Katy at a craft fair.

Oh, man. Are we going to try squash again?

Mmm! That tasted pretty yummy!

Mom, give me the spoon. I know how the game is played.

Well, that was great. Let's save the leftovers for tomorrow morning!

And, shifting to a different topic entirely, here are some pictures of Jim Thorpe, the town we went to last weekend. All these shots are from the balcony of the suite we stayed in.

Also, take a look at the new list on the right. I stole this idea from my friend Katie, who has her baby's favorite songs listed on their blog. Click on the links to hear them on YouTube. These are some of the staple songs that we sing and listen to every day. If you are a James Taylor fan (and who isn't, besides my parents?), you have to check out Jellyman Kelly.

Various pics

This is how I found Katy in the car after driving home from the food store yesterday. That's her hat string in her mouth. It remained there for the duration of her nap - about 1.5 hours.

This morning we tried squash again. This time the food was warm, and we strapped on a "Yo Quiero a Mi Papi" bib. See how excited she is?

After the first taste, the smile ran away from her face.

Not crying, but not thrilled about the squash.

Mommy, can I just chew on this bib instead?

So, we didn't force it. We ended up washing it down the sink. We'll try again another day.

Katy and I hosted a playgroup La Leche League playgroup today. It was fun! Four mamas came with their little ones. There were a total of 6 kids, all under 3 years old. Here are some of them. I think some of them were upstairs when I took this picture. What a change from the quiet place this house usually is!

Oh, and one other anecdote, without a picture to illustrate. Many of you know that Katy hates to be bathed, and either frowns grumpily through it or cries hysterically. I have tried bathing her in the baby tub, the big tub, and the sink - it doesn't seem to matter where she is. She just hates it. This morning I gave Katy a bath in the big tub, and she SMILED! This was the first time I've bathed her in the morning, so maybe we will make that our new bathtime.

Foot in mouth

Katy's teeth must be really thinking about coming in. She's putting everything in her mouth!

Toys...

Grammy's feet!

Grammy's feet the next day!

The table at a restaurant

Squash? This was our first attempt at solids foods. Mommy cooked the squash and froze it weeks ago, and it's just been waiting until Katy turned 6 months old, and then until her cold was all the way gone. She seems ready to try solids!

No thanks, Mommy. How about warming it up next time? And maybe a bib? Amateur.

Here are our 3 babies. Katy (shown on left) is now heavier than Wolfie (upper right), but still lighter than Jane (lower right).

One of her favorite things is to sit in a big person chair. When she's getting cranky, it's a surefire way to cheer her up.

Surprise! It was G-Pop's birthday this weekend, and we went to Jim Thorpe, PA for some skiing (not me and Katy) and some relaxing. Here is one of the surprises I've been knitting! Wool socks for G-Pop!

We also got him a bunch of Irish stuff, since he's so excited to go to Ireland this spring.

Kate-ster tried on G-Pop's new hat.

There are more pics from our weekend, but they are on Daddy's camera. And that's another story. We'll post them in 2 to 3 days. :)
