Let's Go Maryland!

I found Daddy's camera. On Sunday we spent the whole day getting ready for the Maryland / Duke basketball game. Maryland lost, but we did enjoy the anticipation.

Six months old!

Well, our little Kate-ster is now 6 months old (as of last Friday). She is the light of our lives! I never could have imagined that having a baby was this much fun. I know, it's a big change from my last post, which was awful negative. That was a bad day. For the most part, we have a great time.

Here are some recent pictures, mostly with her Daddy, because these were taken with Mommy's camera. I can't find Daddy's camera right now, but there are some great pics on it, which I will post when I find it.

Here's what Katy and Daddy did the whole time Mommy was at Knitwits last night.

Okay, these two pics require a bit of explanation. Actually, they're funnier without any explanation.

This sucks.

I try to be positive on this blog, but I'm having pretty much the worst day ever. I have a sick baby, a sick cat, and Zach is away all day and night on a ski trip. I could go on - even all the little things are going wrong (computer locked up, dog yakked on the new rug, etc.).

But instead of outlining all my misfortunes, I'll leave you with some pics of Kate the other night. She was super-cranks and then I remembered how much she enjoyed this position on our papasan chair. It made her happy for two blissful minutes!

Bonanza!

Whoa. Zach's co-worker has two little girlies, and yesterday she brought him 2 huge leafbags and an enormous cardboard box FULL of baby girl clothes and accessories. They are from 12 mos. to 2T - just what we'll be needing in the next year. The seasons are right for the sizes, and the clothes are SO cute.

This morning, Katy and I went through the clothes to separate them into sizes, and into lights and darks for laundry. Here are some pics. Can you find Wolfie in the first one? Everything in this picture is from Zach's co-worker, except the bathtub and the pack-n-play folded up in the corner. And Wolfie. And Katy's foot (lower left).

Wolfie thinks he's died and gone to heaven.

Playtime!

As Katy gets older and better at sitting up, she is spending a LOT more time playing independently! This is great because it means Mommy has more free time. And thank you to the makers of the Boppy Nursing Pillow, which helps Katy sit without falling if Mommy can't be sitting with her.

Although she looks a little peeved in this picture, she was actually playing happily with Wyatt's ball.

We hosted a playgroup for La Leche League today. Two nearby moms came with their little boys. Here is a big boy trying out Katy's little swing. It's hard to see, but he is ECSTATIC over the swing.

Another friend enjoys Katy's bead roller coaster.

After playgroup, Katy napped while Mommy tried her hand at crochet. Here is my first little crochet project. It's a scrubbie for the dishes! I was out of sponges anyway. Plus, this one I can throw in the washer and use it again (unlike sponges, which just get thrown away). Thank you Anna, for the great cotton yarn, which is awesome for dishcloths and washcloths.

These are from a few days ago. I took these so you could see Katy wearing her homemade wool soaker.

Giraffes are Insincere

We took a spontaneous trip to the Philadelphia Zoo (which you have to pay for! beat!). We had a great time. The animals were very active today, but no real elephants... they weren't outside. Katy paid just as much attention to the people as she did to the animals. She cried at the goat, but she liked the little monkeys, go figure.

Our first wool soaker

Remember that my whole purpose for learning to knit was to make wool diaper covers? Here's our first one.

30 plus pictures!

Okay, I am the world's worst blogger. The more time that went by, the bigger a project it seemed to go through the pics and find the ones I wanted to post. But I just did it, and here they are...

Katy sitting up! She's still unstable, but getting better every day.

The stockings I made for Christmas. Zach likes to joke that I purposely made mine the biggest, but that's of course not true. :) I hung a separate bag for the extra stocking stuffers that didn't fit in his stocking, which also shrunk quite a bit. Since then, I've learned about stretching a felted garment as it dries to maintain size and shape.

Our Christmas tree after Santa came.

After all the presents, somebody was tuckered out.

Grammy and G-Pop got Katy a tunnel for Christmas!

My birthday! I got lots of knitting & sewing supplies, and money!!

Uncle John w/ Katy.

Katie with Mabel, me with Katy. Katy was not into looking at the camera at that moment.

Okay, that's all for now, because it has taken me like 2 hours to get these posted, and Katy needs to go to bed. I'll add to this same post tomorrow.

Okay, I lied about the "tomorrow" part. I'll try and get the rest of these up today (Thursday).
